Hopscotch El Sistema de la Intervención de Lectura (SIL) – Levels D-I Green Kit
El Sistema de la Intervención de Lectura (SIL) is a nine-week program for students in 1st Grade 1-2. The SIL Green Kit uses 45 culturally diverse from the Hopscotch book series. These titles range from guided reading levels D – I and Intervention Levels 4 – 16.
The SIL Green Kit focuses on the following literacy skills:
- Print awareness
- Letter knowledge
- Vocabulary building
- Reading and writing strategies
- Reading and writing fluency
- Oral language development
- Listening skills
- Comprehension
The SIL Green Kit provides the following support for your literacy intervention program:
- Explicit and systematic instruction for small groups
- Support for identifying individual student strengths and needs
- Assessments for documentation and for lesson implementation
- Opportunities for accelerated progress from text Level D to I within a six-week period
- The opportunity to monitor students’ progress on a daily basis
- Take-home support for parent involvement
SIL Green Kit includes:
- 270 student books, levels D – I (6 each of 45 titles)
- 270 take-home books (same titles as above)
- 1 Teacher Guide (includes records of oral reading and reproducible activity pages)
- 10 student writing notebooks
- Alphabet picture cards
- High frequency word cards
- Syllable word cards
- 12 reusable take-home bags

A Message From The Authors:
We first created the Hopscotch books because of our love for the children and we wanted to represent their lives in the books. We wanted our multicultural books to capture the interests of all children.
We then created the SIL/LIS so that teachers would have an easy to follow program which would offer intensive daily instruction for struggling readers using research based practices.
We wanted the SIL/LIS to be useful for the classroom teacher/RTI intervention teacher or summer school teacher so that they would be able to advance their students into becoming successful readers.
